If we're returning home from the south Dales we often travel up Upper Wharfdale. Going past the pub at Cray we drive past the many waterfalls at the top of the dale and then over an expanse of rough moorland before the road begins its descent on the other side. Gradually the landscape becomes less wild... and then, taking a slight bend at Kidstones Bank, we can see all of Bishopdale before us - in its vast expanse
